Mission

Teton Artlab provides education opportunities through residencies, performances, exhibitions, and workshops.

History

We were formed in 2007 by a volunteer board of directors composed of Jackson Hole artists. '

Our main goals were to create three things:

1)  Artist-in-residence(A-I-R) program for regional and national artists

2) Visual/performing arts events featuring regional and national contemporary artists

3) Printmaking workshops and shared studio

We began with two small shared studios in an old hotel in downtown Jackson. We have since converted a candy factory and old town jail offices into space for over 30 artists.

In addition to the artist in residence program, we have hosted over 50 contemporary exhibitions of local and national artists, including the wood block prints of Chuck Close, Richard Estes, and Alex Katz.

In 2011 we produced our first music event, a sold out performance by MC/painter Aesop Rock and freak folk hero Kimya Dawson.

In 2012, we launched the Caldera Festival, a two evening event featuring contemporary fashion, art, and live performances by critically acclaimed musicians Andrew Bird, Sharon Van Etten, and Kelly Hogan

In early 2012, our newest studio center, Big Haus, opened across from the Center for the Arts.  We look forward to great things from this new location!
