It Came From the Supervolcano is a regional exhibition series focusing on emerging artists working in the area surrounding the Yellowstone Caldera. Part two of this series spotlights several Jackson Hole artists, including Craig Spankie, Mark Dunstan(painting), Wade Dunstan(photography), Tristan Greszko(photography), Camille Davis(drawing), Michelle Rene Gustafson(photography) and Abbie Miller(sculpture).

It Came From the Supervolcano is a regional art exhibition highlighting emerging artists whose work reflects the unique character of the are surrounding the Yellowstone Caldera. Part one of this series spotlights Ali Kornblum, a local painter whose unique, cubist inspired interpretations of our landscape will surely turn some heads. The Artlab will also display new prints being produced in the studio and will have refreshments and impromptu art demonstrations.
Photographer Zachary S Allen’s photography from Northern Montana covers a range of subject matter, from silos to Native American family photos, studies of sisters posing in the street, and patterns formed by patches of melting snow.

OK, Cowboy

OK, Cowboy is a group exhibition of Wyoming artists whose work represents a range of contemporary themes, from the stereotypes of the West to politics to religion. In addition to fresh artwork, we will be hosting a contest featuring the classic Nintendo game, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out. The winner of the game will receive a special work of art created by residents of Teton Artlab.

GRAND RE-OPENING

Our grand reopening on March 13th will feature work by over a dozen artists from the Jackson Hole region who have been invited to participate in our artist in residency program. Our studios will be open all weekend from 10 - 6 pm to the public. Saturday the 14th will feature tours and print demonstrations held at noon and at 4pm.

The Teton Artlab Print Collaborative is a program that
introduces local artists to the art of printmaking and
facilitates the exchange of ideas and techniques in a safe, non-toxic environment. Artists learn a variety of techniques including traditional woodblock and relief as well as modern innovations such as solar plate etching and digital platemaking. Participating artists donate a portion of their editions to Teton Artlab to help fund the project.

takes portraits of strangers: waiters at local eateries, KMart workers, ranchers, carnival employees,
and the objects and spaces they inhabit. Working in traditional medium format film with a wooden camera, his portraits are deeply revealing; posed yet still candid moments. His subjects represent a cross-section of the people of Jackson, a transient culture of many states and nations.

Between the labor-intensive techniques of clothing construction and the possibilities of drawing, Miller works out the conceptual ideas for her fiber sculpture. In Relinquish, the long piece of fabric “zips” into its shape, evoking the human body as both form and expressive vehicle yet producing something previously unimagined.

Walker has created a brilliantly colored body of artwork that is inspired by the town of Jackson and incredible light of summer. An exhibition of new work by Craig Spankie and Mike Tierney. Spankie, a New Zealand native, creates artwork that is heavily influenced by materials he discovers on construction sites, incorporating these found object with detailed acrylic renderings of cows, sheep, and other animals. Mike Tierney uses spray enamel and masking tape to depict the mountains that he has been skiing for over a decade.
